Mission in Lorain

MEALS ON WHEELS           

In 1972 the congregation established the first Meals on Wheels Program for the home-bound in Lorain. Meals are prepared five days a week in the church kitchen and delivered to homes by volunteers. Pastor Raymond Black is the head cook and Fannie Mendoza is the director of the program. They may be reached by calling 440-244-6288.

LORAIN COOPERATIVE MINISTRY

First Lutheran Church is a founding member (1984) of the Lorain Cooperative Ministry, an ecumenical ministry which distributes food to the needy from three churches and five high-rise buildings. On the second Thursday of the month, volunteers from First Lutheran host a choice pantry (people select needed groceries) and serve a hot meal. LORAIN COUNTY FREE CLINIC

First Lutheran Church and other members of the Lorain Cooperative Ministry founded the Lorain County Free Clinic in 1986. It continues to serve the medically uninsured in the county and Paul Baumgartner, a member of First Lutheran, is the Executive Director. The Free Clinic may be reached at 440-277-7602.
