Director of Music

Brian
Wentzel has been the Director of Music at
First Lutheran since 2006. He plays the organ
and piano for worship services, directs the
choirs, and coordinates other musical programs
of the church.
Brian
received a Bachelor of Music degree in Organ
Performance from Northwestern University,
and earned his Master of Sacred Music degree
at Luther Seminary. Brian has given concerts
and hymn festivals in Ohio, Illinois, and
Minnesota, and received the Immanuel Organ
Award from Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Evanston, IL, in 2003. Brian's first organ
teacher was his father, Steven Wentzel, and
he has also studied under Margaret Kemper,
Douglas Cleveland, and John Ferguson. He has
studied choral conducting with Robert A.
Harris, Robert Schulz, and Anton Armstrong.
